In May 2022, Japan will host the World Masters Games in the stunning Kansai Region.
Training for Trips have a number of adventure trip opportunities available in this region and will support your to train and prepare for BOTH your World Masters Games event and your adventure travel experience. Available for customisation and private groups you can swim, hike, ride or paddle your way around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Koyasan. This is an opportunity to explore stunning natural landscapes while experiencing the culture, food and history of Japan.
Following the success of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games this event looks like it will go ahead with confidence.

On scenic swims, explore Japan's "hidden shoreline," lined with fishing villages, terraced farming fields and rocky limestone formations. Exquisite Buddhist temple stays and Shinto shrines visits that stand the test of time, all waiting to be explored on your Japanese swimming expedition. This trip is also offered as a live aboard swimming retreat - perfect for a group that enjoys traveling in a unique style together on their swimming adventure.

Our unique multi activity Kansai expedition designed especially for the adventurous masters athlete or team includes hiking or trail running trails famous for the Marathon Monks of Hiei, cycling the Kyoto riverpaths and backstreets, sea kayaking the Inland Sea and its stunning coastline, rafting the Kansai countryside in ancient style, dawn zazen and temple stay experience and join a local dojo for some Japan traditional martial arts experiences.....and did we mention the food?

Our Kansai hiking trip is accessible to everyone. Start by experiencing the fine frenzy of modern Kyoto, then slip into the peace and tranquillity of rural Japan and ancient Nara. Stroll some of Japan's most breathtaking walking trails and step back in time. Visit centuries-old temples, soak in mountain hot springs, and marvel at the soothing stillness of the awe-inspiring countryside.

Paddle the tropical coastline of the volcanic Izu Peninsula and take on a section of the sacred Mt Fuji pilgrimage trail. In our multi-activity Tokyo adventure Kayak past Hagachizaki Bay, home to a troop of over 300 wild Japanese macaque monkeys. Bed down in traditional 'ryokans'; don your robe, roll out your futon and hop in a steaming ‘onsen’. Hit the backstreets of Tokyo in search of hidden ‘izakaya’ for the ultimate foodie dive bar experience.
